Emergency  ShutDown  Valves (ESDV)  for  well  testing applications  are  generally reverse acting gate valves equipped with a hydraulic linear actuator. In offshore applications this valve may be incorporated into a flowhead, but for lands use are normally skid mounted and installed close to the wellhead. For single well tie-ins, a wellhead ESD valve is usually sufficient.
